Aurum's character design is a collaborative effort between Aurum himself and Megan, aka poppliomom/nutmegpoid.
Aurum created the original design of Aurum, including his overall appearance, while Megan designed the outfit he is primarily seen wearing.

Aurum was born on a planet in another galaxy, to parents who were intergalactic researchers. Both of his parents have spent some time researching Earth, and in turn educated Aurum all about it.
One day, Aurum was cruising around the galaxy and lost control of his ship. Luckily, Earth was nearby, so he was able to direct his ship towards the planet before crash landing onto it.
Upon landing on Earth, he was offered shelter by someone who is now a friend of his, and he decided to stay on the planet as he enjoyed life there and the friends he made. His parents, who were finally able to track his location, decided to take up permanent residence on Earth to continue their research on the planet.
Aurum, now living on Earth for years, has become an idol-like performer inspired by the J-Pop groups he's enjoyed for so long, both fictional and real life.
